    "Steffi is the best!

Should you come here? The first question to answer is "Why Bulgaria? When I booked it was because the resort looked nice, it had good reviews and was really reasonably priced compared to similar high rated all inclusive resorts in the Canaries, Greece and Turkey. Now I have been you can add the people, the landscape and the Wave Resort Pomorie. We have just returned from 7 nights in this resort and if you are thinking about it do it! Location: It is not in the middle of a town but transport is available to Sunny Beach, Nessebar and Pomorie. We took a taxi into Nessebar which was priced fairly. Rooms: we were lucky to get one of the maisonette rooms with a full sea view, probably the best resort view I have ever had. The room is split over two floors, sleeps 5 and has two full balconies, three bathrooms and a living area. The rooms were clean and had more than enough space and storage for the four of us staying in it. Resort: Kept so nice and clean, more pools than you can properly use in 7 days. The Spa was lovely the fountains with their nightly show, a pretty touch and the beach accessible straight from the resort. Most people will want to know - There is no mad rush for sunbeds. Grab your breakfast, walk outside find some, all with umbrellas. We were never out there earlier than 8.30am and some days as late as 10am. Food and drink - cocktails all freshly made with an amazing choice at all 4 bars, Dewa in the lobby bar was in my view the best of the bar staff. Food - so much food! The food court for those daytime snacks and the main buffet with a stunning selection of all types of food, I would say something for everyone and we were never hungry. There are 3 a la carte restaurants on site but we never felt the need to use them. Entertainment - The evening Entertainment was either in the amphitheatre or live music in the beach bar. There were some stand out performances from Nik Michaels with his Elvis tribute and the Bulgarian Michael Buble -Ivailo Kolev. During the day the Animation Team offer activities for all ages. Our teen girls were spoken to by one of them on day one and loved joining in from that day forward, getting 3 teen girls away from books, phone sunbeds and a pool is a real achievement and for that reason we all agree that Steffi from the Animation team needs and award but to us Steffi is the best! Should you come here - Yes!!!!"

    "Amazing experience at Wave resort

The hotel is amazing! I visited Wave resort for a first time this year and I am absolutely charmed by the hotel, the management and all the facilities! I would like to say big thank you to all the staff of the hotel and especially to the Guest relations manager Zhanin. She is an absulute professionalist-she is doing all her best to make sure, all guests expectations are met! I have noticed that the GM of the hotel almost lives at the hotel to keep the standards of the hotel at this high level. As a professionalist myself, being a business travel agent for more than 20 years, I've been to many luxurious, 5 and above stars hotels worldwide and I can assure all, Wave resort is an amazing hidden gem in the paradise Bulgaria! Everything is great-the indonesians and bulgarians working in the restaurants, reception, houskeeping, pools, animationsand entertainment, all working very hard and with a smile to make all guests stay unforgettable! I hope I would be able to return to the hotel very soon and enjoy it as a holiday guest this time! Thank you all for making my business trip so much easier, because of your hard work and professionalism! Have an amazing season! 🙂🫶🙏 Zornitsa Gugaleva, Bulgaria"

"The Wave Resort - an excellent holiday

The Wave Hotel in Bulgaria is a very impressive tourist resort and provides great value for money. We stayed there between 22 and 29 July 2026. The receptionists provided a very warm, cheerful and efficient service. Nothing was too much trouble. We paid a little extra to have a family space with two bedrooms and were delighted to be given a ‘swim up’ lagoon room on the first floor - a vast space. Room service was first class - our room was serviced every day. The air con was very efficient. The small fridge was topped up every day with free treats. The food choices were excellent - a huge array of dishes, beautifully displayed, to delight every taste and need. It was good to see the hot food being prepared in the various cooking islands around the dining room. The chefs, waiters and waitresses were all very attentive and cheerful. If you arrived too late for breakfast in the dining room, the bistro had a large selection of foods and drink to choose from. We enjoyed the à la carte Bulgarian meal in the separate dining room. The food and silver service were all very good - a memorable evening treat. In between main meals, the large snack area by the far pool offered a wide range of food and drink. It’s a large resort area and it was always easy to find a group of empty sun beds, particularly in the Adult (16+ years) area. However, the ‘Adult’ requirement needed close supervision as a few families each day ignored the age expectation and brought in very young children. Fortunately, most lifeguards (not all, sadly) were very vigilant and politely asked these families to move to one of the many other pool areas. The pool areas are extensive and the splash area and aquapark water chutes are very popular. If you find it too noisy, (sometimes the music provided by the enthusiastic ‘Animation Team’ is a bit over powering around the splash and aquapark areas), it’s easy to find a quieter spot in the Adult corner. The resort is close to the Black Sea beach and it was a delight to swim in warm water. Again, this private beach has lots of sun-beds and parasols. There’s more than enough to occupy people of all ages in the Wave resort. It’s clear from the building work around in the distance, that this will become, in time, a larger holiday area. We took a taxi one day to the UNESCO city of Nessebar - a must visit attraction. After dinner, the colourful water fountain sound and light show is a must-watch spectacle. The evening entertainment programme seemed very popular. The various bars are very efficient. Overall, the staff were all very cheerful and helpful. This helped to make it a very memorable holiday. A bit of advice - brush up and use a bit of Bulgarian for daily exchanges. It’s very well received. It was very sad to leave, but the bonus of only a 30 minute transfer journey to the airport was very helpful. Rooms: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Location: 4/5 Noteworthy details All the staff were excellent, but some were outstanding. I’d like to commend and thank: Maria - receptionist; Aysha - waitress; Comind - Lobby coffee barman and barista. Hotel highlights Luxury, Child-friendly, Great value"

"One of the Best Hotels We’ve Ever Stayed At!

We recently returned from an incredible 11-night stay (late July) at Wave Resort as a family of three (two adults and our 15-year-old daughter). This is easily one of the best hotel resorts we’ve ever stayed at, and we would return in a heartbeat! *** Rooms & Cleanliness *** We had a side sea view room overlooking the resort’s beautiful central fountains. The hotel is only about 6–7 years old, so the modern decor and overall condition of the rooms are fantastic. Amenities & Comfort: Included a coffee machine (Dolce Gusto pod), minibar (restocked daily with water, tea, full-sugar Coke, and beer), hair dryer, two sinks, a dedicated dressing area, and spacious, separate shower/toilet cubicles. Sleep quality was outstanding—thanks to our Deluxe Club upgrade, we were able to order lovely memory foam pillows from the exclusive pillow menu, which made our sleeps in the room extra comfortable! A note on layout: The shower / toilet doors are frosted glass with a small side gap by design, which limits privacy slightly, but it wasn’t a major deal-breaker. Cleanliness: Flawless! The housekeeping team does an outstanding job—this is easily one of the cleanest and neatest resorts we have ever visited. (Tip: Towards the end of July, keep your balcony door shut, as the local bush crickets can get quite large and adventurous!) *** UPGRADE: DELUXE CLUB (Honest Breakdown) *** We upgraded to the Wave Deluxe Club. While it doesn't come with a physical room upgrade (and isn't intended to), it still added a layer of luxury and extra special touches to our stay overall—though several advertised perks fell short. What We Enjoyed as part of Deluxe Club: Personal Concierge: We found this service very useful for booking restaurants, taxis, ordering pillows, and reporting any issues. However, I have no idea if this service wouldn't have been any different by just contacting the reception desk normally. In-Room Perks & Comfort: Welcome package on arrival, room service access, a complimentary beach bag, and access to the exclusive pillow menu (ordering the memory foam pillows was a total game-changer for a fantastic night’s sleep!). À La Carte Access: Amazing food and service at the à la carte restaurants on many occasions (usually only possible once during a stay for those not part of the Deluxe Club). Beach Cabanas: The beach has new posh sunbeds for Deluxe Club members which were beautiful—just like real beds, but on the beach and with a lovely protective canopy above to protect from the sun. The Caveats & Missed Perks from Deluxe Club experience: À La Carte Availability: The upgrade advertises walk-in access to à la carte restaurants for breakfast and lunch to escape the busy main restaurant. However, only one à la carte venue is open at any given daytime sitting. Our favourite, Ginger (Asian cuisine), was never open for breakfast or lunch, and wasn't open every evening either. Fixed Menus: The à la carte menu options across Ginger, Oliva, and Lavanda are fairly limited (around 4 main courses each) and don't change throughout the stay. If you have picky eaters or stay longer than a few nights, you might find yourself opting for the main buffet instead. VIP Arrival & Departure: Arriving around 9:00 PM meant there was no personal concierge available (the dedicated VIP welcome appears to run only between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM). Our check-out also felt like a standard check-out process, so we missed out on the personal farewell and departure gift. Is DELUXE CLUB worth upgrading to? Debatable. We paid quite a bit extra for this privilege and missed out on a lot of what was offered, as there are several caveats the resort doesn't explicitly tell you. That said, I don't regret upgrading—it certainly made our holiday extra special—but given the price and limitations, we wouldn't upgrade again. *** Food & Dining *** The food quality, variety, and freshness across the board were impressive. See below for a list of eateries and our thoughts: Oliva Mediterranean À La Carte: Absolutely outstanding. The first evening we dined here completely blew us away—the service was extra special, and the food presentation was top-tier. Honestly, it was possibly the best 5-course meal I’ve ever had, and walking out at the end without having to pay felt completely surreal! Highlights included the goat's cheese salad with strawberries and pine nuts (out of this world), the seafood gigli pasta in pernod (divine), and the duck magret in orange sauce, which was easily the best single course of food I've ever experienced. It felt like a fine-dining experience you'd happily pay top money for in London. Ginger Asian À La Carte: We also loved dining here—the service was impeccable and you truly feel like you are dining in style, which makes for a lovely contrast to the busy buffet. The quantity of food across the courses was unbelievable (you definitely won't leave peckish!). The tempura shrimp was sublime! The pad thai was a bit unexpected as it was made with udon noodles and felt a little underwhelming, but overall the experience was fantastic. Salt & Pepper Buffet: Excellent selection of local and international dishes with live cooking stations. Whenever the set à la carte menus didn't quite hit the mark for everyone, Salt & Pepper was our reliable go-to. Even my usually picky family loved the variety, and it was great seeing my daughter try new foods. The service was fantastic, tables were reset swiftly, and despite being busy, it never felt chaotic. 24/7 Bistro & Snack Bar: Hands down the best 24/7 concept we’ve experienced. Perfect for late-night arrivals, early risers, or afternoon bites. It features pour-your-own beer, soft drinks, salads, hot sandwiches, yogurts, and desserts. Pool Food Court: Great variety available throughout the day—fresh pizza, daily meat stations, quesadillas/wraps/gyros, burgers, popcorn, and pre-made salad pots. (Note on sweets: Unfortunately, the waffles, pancakes, and donuts were rather mediocre—mostly because they were rarely, if ever, served fresh or hot. You were lucky if you managed to get one even lukewarm!) *** Bars & Atmosphere *** The bar selection is brilliant, with a great range of drinks and a massive cocktail menu. Tropical Wave is an absolute must-try signature cocktail! Decor & Comfort: The quality of the furnishings throughout the hotel—especially in the reception/lobby area and bar spaces—was fantastic. We particularly loved the egg chairs and swivel chairs on the outside verandas, which made spending our evenings playing cards incredibly comfortable! Fun Perk: There’s even a Jägermeister machine dispensing ice-cold shots at -18°C included in the Ultra All Inclusive package, so no extra charges for shots! Staff: We found most of the staff across the resort were from Indonesia. Every single one of them we encountered was amazing—happy, courteous, chatty, and genuinely excellent at their jobs! The animation team were all brilliant, helping my daughter enjoy her stay during the day and entertaining us all by night; special shout outs to Ivayla and Stefanie who made our day on countless occasions. Quirks to Note: It was a little odd that certain cocktails were restricted to specific bars—for instance, our favourite Piña Colada wasn't available down at the beach bar. *** Pools, Beach, Spa & Gym *** Pools: Lots of pools to choose from! Contrary to some reviews we read, none of them were freezing cold—most were either warmly inviting or refreshingly cool. The large central pool is the coolest of the lot, while the Adults-Only pool was the warmest (and great for a peaceful swim). The activity pool was by far the busiest—that’s where a decent selection of music is played and where the animation team run their game sessions like darts, shuffleboard, water polo, and water aerobics. Also, despite some reports that the indoor pool closes during peak summer months, it was fully open during our stay! The waterslides were pretty decent and quite a bit of fun—only a small selection, but still a bonus for a cracking resort like this. Beach & Mud Baths: Dark sand beach with warm, clear water. We saw many people taking advantage of the natural salt lake adjacent to the hotel or covering themselves in the therapeutic mud. Gym: We used the gym during our stay and found the equipment was pretty good for a hotel gym! The only drawback is that it could really benefit from some air conditioning, as it was quite warm in there during workouts. Spa: While we didn't use the spa facilities ourselves, it looks like a beautiful area, though the expected tranquility of the pool, sauna, and steam room was often spoiled by kids. *** Excursions & Local Area *** Location: There isn't much directly around the resort, but that was completely to our taste. We knew what to expect beforehand, and the resort itself is so comprehensive and well-run that you really don't have to go anywhere else if you don't want to! Sunny Beach: Don't bother with this place unless you are specifically looking for bars and clubs in the evening (younger adults may prefer this). Otherwise, it's easy to skip given how much there is to enjoy at the resort and in Nessebar! Nessebar: An absolute must-visit! Gorgeous, lovely town that is perfect for a daytime stroll. Definitely stick to visiting here, although once you've visited one shop, you feel like you've been in them all! **** Final Thoughts: **** Overall, we loved Wave Resort. Exceptional service, spotless grounds and pools, fantastic food, and lovely rooms. We will probably come back, but my wife says the weather isn't as warm as other destinations (can be a bit cloudy) — and because she loves the heat and sun, that may be the ultimate deciding factor!"
